Protests

Angry young people
Filled with age old ideas
Fresh faces, emboldened,
Listening only to their peers

They march waving banners
And chant their demands
A catchy rhythmic mantra
Got the words right first time round

The atmospheres welcome
Solidarity has empowering feel
There are groups of famous people
Who share the same ideals

The crowds are getting bigger
Protest noise charges the air
Famous speakers, political figures
Make it known that they all care

Protesters blocking the main roads
Others chained to symbols of greed
Journalists, they capture the stories
Spread the message far, wide and free

Elements rage against the protest
Change threatens their way of life
So they circulate violence like a spectre
They start the riots, then loot and fight

The Police arrive en masse
They've come tooled up for a fight
No discriminating between violent or peaceful
Make sure the cuffs ain't on to tight

Protesters are tarred with the same brush
The stain of violence hard to erase
Though protests always start off peaceful
Agents of chaos always achieve their aim
